The Point of a Sharp Instrument-Top 10

Number 7

In this post, I delve into the  misunderstood symbol of Venus. The planet Venus, which was named for the Greek goddess of the same name. Venus was the goddess of Love and represents the Divine Feminine. The planet Venus is also referred to as the morning star that is the first to appear at dawn. In Latin, Venus was known as Lucifer, meaning the “Light-Bringer”, or “Shining One”. This is where everything gets confused as far as Venus as a symbol is concerned. Since mystery traditions such as Freemasonry revere Venus, they must be connected to Luciferianism, right?

The Seven Hermetic Principles-The Principle of Gender

The seventh and final Hermetic Principle (according to the Kybalion), may just be one of the most important and most misunderstood of the principles.  Most associate gender with physical sex characteristics.  This however is only a small part of the true meaning of gender.  The word gender derives from the Greek “gen” which means to produce, as in genesis.  Sex is the physical manifestation of gender that is separated into male and female.  When the Hermetic masters referred to gender, they were referring to the generating principle, not male or female sex.  What is important to note at this point is that all things contain both the female and the male energies within them.  Everyone and everything contain characteristics that are akin to both male and female.  Like all other Hermetic Principles, this is true of the physical and super-physical realm and on the mental plane as well.

In the superphysical realm of electricity, the principle manifests as positive and negative polarity. The masculine aspect manifests as the positive polarity, or charge and the feminine manifests as the negative polarity, or charge.  The Kybalion goes to great lengths to eschew the idea that positive and negative have anything to do with our normal concept of those characteristics.  More correctly, it is noted that positive polarity should be referred to as masculine energy and that negative polarity should be referred to as feminine energy.  With this in mind, it explains the law of attraction between the male and female energies within the electrical field. The same can be said of magnetism as well. It is by using these energies together that the end result is created, just as it is on our physical realm with new-life conception.

The masculine and feminine are present upon the physical plane within each being, and manifest as the separate sexes.  On the mental realm, the principle manifests itself through the hemispheres of the brain and through the characteristics of our thoughts and behaviors. The left side of the brain is said to govern the aspects of reason, logic, and analytical thought.  The right brain governs the creative, intuitive, and imaginative aspects our thoughts.  The left side is said to be the male aspect and the right, the female.  We can see these aspects manifested in our gender roles.  Men are said to be more drawn to logic, whereas women are said to be more intuitive.  Of course, we all have aspects of both and neither is more important than the other.  Both are equally important to our complete mental well-being.  The Kybalion goes into great detail regarding the concept of psychic influence and states that people who have mental influence over others, use the power of the male or female to attract the male or female attention of the person that they are trying to influence, just like female electrical charge attracts the male electrical charge.

In a previous blog (Removal of the Divine Feminine), I have discussed the suppression of the Divine Feminine in our culture and what it has done to cast our society out of balance.  This obsession with the left-brain consciousness is what has lead us down the path of ruin that we are currently on.  We can see this at work, even in our educational system, where the importance has been placed on mathematics and science, and has been take off of music and art.  Our education system likes to elude us by telling us that art and music aren’t important because you can’t make a living off of them.  The fact of the matter is that the greatest minds of our time have had a great balance of the masculine and feminine.  Take Einstein for example.  If he had not had a great imagination, many of his greatest discoveries would not have been made.  To quote Einstein regarding this matter, he said: ”

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

-Albert Einstein

Someone who most consider to be one of the greatest minds of our time, understood the importance of the brain hemispheres working together.  Without being able to think outside of the box, great breakthroughs are not possible.

This same balance of the masculine and feminine is needed for our consciousness as well. We must act with equal adherence to our intuitive and our rationale in life.  We must also act with empathy and care (feminine) and right action (masculine) in our day to day lives. It is when we start to work with and apply these laws in our everyday lives that they become less abstract and more personalized and empowering.  The Law of Gender gives us a new understanding of the way things in the physical and non-physical world work and the way our thoughts and actions interact with one another.

The Hermetic Principles have been passed down through the ages so that those who have the ability to comprehend them may see the true nature of reality.  They are a tool for liberation from the misinformation we have received and a light so that we may see through the darkness of materialism.  Each day, modern science is getting closer and closer to accepting many of these concepts as the truth and is realizing that our old belief system is flawed and  incorrect.  Those who worship the material world of money and possessions are being deceived by their senses that are limited to our finite minds.  It is up to us to explore the true nature of our reality which is immaterial, infinite and forever changing, moving, vibrating, attracting and repelling, constantly fluctuating in this great and infinite universal tide.

The Inverted Triangle

The triangle is an ancient symbol of Deity or the divine union. It being the culmination of mind, body and spirit, or Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Mathematically and scientifically it is also of great importance in that it is the point at which dimension one becomes dimension two. In the genesis of life itself lies the triangle. As protons come together to create matter, the tetrahedron is formed. Consisting of 4 triangles, the tetrahedron forms the fundamental Platonic Solid. From here, all matter is created. When this tetrahedron spins within the vacuum of space, it polarizes and creates the Star Tetrahedron. This is where the magic happens. As these formations come together, matter is given birth to.

This Star Tetrahedron is found in religion and mythological symbolism going back to time immemorial. The Star of David, The Sign of Solomon, the hexagram. This symbol gives us the missing piece to the puzzle of our existence. Made up of one right-side up equilateral triangle and one inverted, equilateral triangle, the hexagram is perfectly balanced.

When you look at interpretations of the triangles when separated, you often find mention of the significance of the direction in which each one is pointing. One pointing up, the other down. As above, so below? Heaven and Earth. Ascending and descending.

The triangle with it’s top pointing up is rising up. It can also be looked at as a symbol for the masculine part of consciousness. Phallic in the sense that it points up. This would also allude to the downward pointing triangle being the feminine side of our consciousness. It is essential in a path os spiritual awakening to find balance between the masculine and feminine sides of our consciousness. When broken down into emotional and psychological aspects of personality, it could be said that the masculine aspects control our aggressive side and reasoning. While the feminine aspect relates to our emotions and spirit. In our male-dominated, war-obsessed culture, it is blatantly obvious that our aggressive, animalistic mentality is what is running the world currently. It is also obvious that this way of thinking and living is driving us in the wrong direction. We are headed for disaster if we continue on our current path. It’s not that the masculine aspect of our consciousness is inherently bad. Not at all. It is equally essential to our existence. It’s just that it is completely our of balance with the feminine. The feminine aspect, that of love and nurturing, is being suppressed by our addictions to our animalistic tendencies. This is where the inverted triangle comes in. When you have an upright triangle as a symbol, it is not a completed symbol. It is half of the equation. When you bring the inverted triangle of the feminine together with the upright triangle of the masculine, you find balance. This is what the inverted triangle is. It is the answer to the response. It is the missing piece to the puzzle of our puzzling times. Where do we see reference to this inverted triangle? I don’t know, let’s take a look.

The Removal of the Divine Feminine

One of the biggest travesties of our time has been the removal of the Divine Feminine from our consciousness. The concept of the Divine Feminine was a staple in the religions of Egypt and Greece, among other pre-Christian religions. The original books of the Bible contained this concept as well, before they were edited down to what they are in the present. I believe that it was the deletions of important feminine presence in the Bible that started much of our discord in the world today.

When these concepts were removed from the Biblical texts, it was done because these texts would not comply with the male-dominated society that the monarchy was attempting to promote. It made male-dominated control non-valid and this would have made it impossible for the monarchy and all powerful Roman Catholic Church to have power over the people.

There was also a symbolic gesture behind this as well. Mystical teachings throughout the world have shown the importance of the feminine and masculine aspects of consciousness and how their balance is key to holistic well-being. As was presented in my previous blog about the Seven Hermetic Principles, the Principle of Gender states that all beings have masculine and feminine aspects. Balance between these two characteristics is key to true enlightenment. The removal of the feminine principle from this equation causes an unbalance between the two, and part of the reason our society is in the state that it’s in.

Our Divine mother is our Mother Earth. She is the ultimate representation of the Divine Feminine in the physical world. All we need to live a fulfilling life is provided by her. Our detachment with Earth and the defiling that we do to her is appalling. We have turned our back on the Divine Feminine. Turned our backs on our own balance. This is why we can’t seem to find our way. If we can embrace the Divine Feminine again, we will regain this balance and can right this catastrophic wrong once and for all.
